The plans and first steps...

I had bought the plans/CAD drawing for the cockpit structure on the website https://vr-pits.com/ . The plans are available in DXF format and can be loaded directly into a CNC milling machine. Since I don't have a CNC milling machine, I asked a carpenter's shop how much it would cost to mill the parts. The price was very high and they explained to me that the many small parts are very laborious to mill.

However, I was given the tip that I should go to a laser cutter. The carpenter said that it could be cheaper because with a CO2 laser there is no need for the time-consuming cutter change because it cuts without contact using a thin laser beam.

After I had asked the laser processor and the price was not much lower than the carpenter's, I decided to buy a larger CO2 laser. It simply didn't make financial sense to have the parts processed externally. Buying a larger laser machine was only a little more expensive than external processing. Furthermore, the purchase of a small CO2 laser would have been necessary for the panels anyway.
